Local attorney honored by AAML |
|
Bloomfield Hills family law attorney Richard S. Victor, senior partner
in the Law Offices of Richard S. Victor P.L.L.C was recently honored by
the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) at their national
convention, which took place in Chicago.
Victor was given AAML’s highest and most prestigious award when he was
named the 2006 Fellow of the Year. Victor is the first attorney from the
state of Michigan to ever receive this honor. The AAML selected Victor
for their top award based on his contributions as a member of the AAML
National Board of Governors and his work as chair of their national
continuing legal education committee, since 2004. Victor has been
recognized for his other contributions, both nationally and within the
State of Michigan for his work on behalf of children, families and
grandparents through his efforts in co-creating the state and national
parent education program known as SMILE (Start Making It Livable for
Everyone) and as the founder and executive director of the national
nonprofit Grandparents Rights Organization. In 1999, Victor was honored
with the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan’s Lifetime
Achievement Award; he was named the 2000 National Alumni of the
Year Award from his Law School, MSU-DCL; and the State Bar
of Michigan awarded him the Champion Of
Justice Award in 2004.

The AAML was
founded in 1962. It currently has more than 1,600 members in 50 states.
Its purpose is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the
standards and advance the cause of matrimonial law, to the end that the
welfare of the family and society is protected. AAML Fellows must pass
an oral and/or written examination on wide-ranging issues pertaining to
matrimonial and family law given by both the national organization as
well as their home state. They must also be interviewed by a state board
of examiners and be passed upon by other matrimonial law practitioners
in the state. They must also, demonstrate involvement in the study or
improvement of matrimonial law, such as publishing articles or
continuing education presentations. Mr. Victor
is also recognized in the Best Lawyers In America” for Family Law and is
named as a Michigan “Super Lawyer” by Super Lawyers Magazine. |
